Care Workers Charity

There are over 1.5 million care workers in the UK, contributing to one of Britain's largest workforces, and caring for some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

For Britain's care workers, early starts, long hours and mentally draining work are part and parcel of the job. As a result, it's all too easy for illness, or other unforeseen circumstances, to push them beyond their financial limits.

The good people of the care sector make a massive contribution to our everyday lives. The Care Workers Charity is here to help current, former and retired workers on their rainy day.

Why do we exist?

Carers look after society’s most vulnerable individuals, often for little reward. They spend their careers assisting others, but when circumstances change, sometimes it the carers who need some help.

Our Vision

No care worker will ever face financial hardship alone.

The Rainy Day Fund For Everyday Heroes

There are around 3,000 benevolent funds in all shapes and sizes across the UK, supporting people from all manner of working backgrounds, such as the police, fire fighters, pharmacists and mechanics. But until 2009, there was no such fund for Care Workers. Surely, with such a vast and dedicated workforce, people should be looking to support them too?

In 2009, 15 key industry operators set up The Care Professional Benevolent Fund. By providing the initial funds to establish the charity, these individuals laid the foundations for an organisation dedicated to helping current, former and retired care workers.

At the end of 2013 The Care Professionals Benevolent Fund re-launched as ‘The Care Workers Charity’, the rainy day fund for everyday heroes.

As a country, we depend on our care workers to be there for us on our rainy day. The Care Workers Charity is there for them on theirs.
