Pastoral Care Drop in Sessions for Organisations who Recruit Internationally

Gugu Mthethwa, GCPA’s seconded Pastoral Care Officer, has recently been running network events for Gloucestershire’s international recruits at the Friendship Café in Gloucester with really positive feedback from those who attended the sessions.

Following on from this, GCPA are now offering drop in sessions at your organisation’s settings, so as many international recruits as possible can be supported by Gugu and the GCPA team.

How can this benefit your organisation?

· Gugu can support your induction plan and ensure that international staff have a smooth transition into your workplace.

· Providing continuous support with accommodation, bank and GP registrations.

· Helping to integrate international staff into their communities and allow them to feel at home.

Testimonials of network event attendees:

“The event was amazing and really helpful for me. I got a lot of new information from GCPA’s side. Gugu and Ollie made excellent conversation with me and my husband. I would like to learn more about my career progression.”

“We really enjoyed today’s networking event. This is a good initiative for international employees.”

Please contact Ollie at GCPA to arrange a drop in session: ollie.counter@gcpa.co.uk or call 07563393202

New App for Gloucestershire’s International Recruits

GCPA and system partners have teamed up with Piota Apps to launch a new application called Healthzone UK. This app aims to ease the transition into the UK for international recruits working in the care sector in Gloucestershire.

From locating your nearest supermarket, to finding out how to access Vivup employee benefits and reading up to date articles on modern slavery and exploitation; this app allows you to access all information in one place.

Whilst this app is aimed primarily at international recruits, all information can be relevant for registered managers and other members of staff and we encourage anyone to download it.

This can be downloaded via apple or google stores following the links below:

Apple – App Store
Google Play Store

If you have viewed these links on a laptop or computer, these can be transferred to a mobile device to view on the stores or to download. Screenshots are provided below of what the app will look like on Apple or Google stores.

ONCE YOU HAVE DOWNLOADED THE APP, SEARCH FOR ‘LINKING GLOUCESTERSHIRE’ TO GET ACCESS TO THE GLOUCESTERSHIRE RESOURCES.

South West Regional Stakeholder Network – Request for Photos and Locations of Car Parks Where Disabled Bays are not Suitable

The South West Regional Stakeholder Network, which feeds directly into the Office for Disability Issues within Government, has a current focus on issues with transport and challenges with inappropriate disabled parking spaces.

The Chair of the Network is making a request for photos and locations of car parks where disabled bays are not suitable (they may have been given another use such as a bicycle storage area, dumping ground, converted into standard use electric charging bays, are too small to be useful etc.

The Network will take this information directly to the department to be used as evidence for them to take action either against individual landowners or to support the change of culture to ensure disabled bays are given the priority and space they require.  The summarised results of the information they are given will form part of the Government’s Disability Action Plan.

If you know of such a disabled parking space(s) that is being misused, please send more information to cathy.andrews@orchard-trust.org.uk
